This one is for a bit of fun. My favorite being the “Unicorn” which was most likely a mistranslation of Wild Ox. While this is funny at a glance this shows how dangerous and easily mistranslations can change the meaning and understanding of the Bible.

Maybe, maybe not. I consider a lot of the Bible metaphor, simile, analogy, and great Jewish thinkers did and do, too. Jesus himself said not to take everything literally, when questioned about speaking in parables. I believe David's cup that ran over was his heart running over with emotion.

The orphanim is interesting to contemplate, but I believe it was symbolic, and you have to read the book of Enoch and dig into kabbalah/merkabah. These things aren't given to just anyone to understand, people have to demonstrate great wisdom to even be privy to deeper kennings of mundane teachings. Gatekeeping, but to keep people from misusing such intimate understandings of the human psyche from misusing it against other people, by way of political means. Ironically, imo, the nicean councils misused knowledge against people for political purposes by omission.

I think that’s the best way to interpret it. I also consider parts of the Bible’s content to be metaphors, similes, etc. it’s been around a while and times have changed maybe we’ve lost some of that these were supposed to meN and are taking things at face value that we were supposed to look into a bit more.

Well, it was also written after matriarchal social structures were usurped by the patriarchal social structures. But in the disincluded gospels, Jesus rebuked Peter and others for this mindset. He recognized the necessity of inclusion.

Plus, all this is based on Sumerian religion, and the Jewish people did spend a lot of time in other places, Egypt, Syria, Canaan, Asia, etc, so ideas sort of spread, mingled, morphed and melded. Adding to that, these were often oral traditions for decades and centuries, before being written, translated, and mistranslated, like a 5000 year old game of telephone. We just muddle along as best we can. Hopefully best, anyway.
