Raphael came into contact with the works of Paolo Uccello, previously the court painter, after Uccello's death in 1475.

It seems to be flagging simply that Paolo Uccello died in 1475 (in the title of this card), and Raphael encountered these paintings some time after Paolo died, which isn't incorrect.

  • Paolo died, Raphael was born, Raphael encountered Paolo's paintings.

The description is just worded a little wonky. It probably should say something like "The death of a court painter whose art may have posthumously influenced Raphael when he was young."

The sentence in the Wikipedia article:

In Urbino, he came into contact with the works of Paolo Uccello, previously the court painter (d. 1475), and Luca Signorelli, who until 1498 was based in nearby Città di Castello.[14]
