Has porting anime to live action ever resulted in something good? I don't understand taking stories that depend on outlandish expressive animation and going "let's make this more realistic". Makes as much sense to me as trying to release a concerto as a flipbook.

Yes, it has. I can't say the same for various anime adaptations but Korea's comics paired with their dramas have done exceptionally well!
